Decorating for a party during the spring months is easy. Just follow the cues of nature where everything emerges fresh, green and pretty. Choose a favorite color scheme inspired by blooming gardens, create beautiful arrangements of flowers and carry out the style with tabletop accessories. Even if the evenings are still somewhat chilly or April showers seem relentless, these tricks make it possible to evoke the best of the season no matter where the party takes place. The spirit of spring shines bright when incorporating these elements into party décor.

Start With a Color Scheme

Before any decorating begins, choose a color scheme to build the entire party around. This makes it easier to pull from existing pieces and shop for any other decorations. When thinking about color, consider those found outdoors during the spring. A light, yet bright color scheme is perfect, especially for a spring garden party. Here are some modern options:

  • lemon yellow and pea green
  • raspberry and soft turquoise

Spring Party Flowers

A spring-themed party just would not be complete without flowers. From carefree bunches of daffodils to the graceful stems of tulips, there are many ways to incorporate beautiful blooms into party décor. Whether real or faux, flowers for decorations just say spring.

  • Place single stems of varying heights in individual bud vases. Group them in the center of tables to create a casual centerpiece.
  • Create short, round bouquets of large-bloom flowers, such as peonies, and line them down the center of tables.
  • Hang tissue paper flowers from fence posts, deck rails and roof overhangs for an unexpected element.

Spring Table Settings as Party Decorations

Even if your spring party does not require formal place settings, the arrangement of buffet tables, drinks tables and guest tables can still play a big role in party décor. Let form follow function with linens and tableware in spring colors and flowers.

  • Use floral print tablecloths. Check eBay and flea markets for antique versions or seasonal sections of department stores for modern styles.
  • If floral linens are not available, simply cover tables in fabric that coordinates with the party’s color scheme.
  • Place floral centerpieces on each table.
  • Mix different styles of serving pieces to establish a bohemian look. For example, pair an inexpensive floral platter with vintage colored glass and a white cake stand. In addition to pulling together all parts of the décor, the varying heights of these pieces add interest to the tabletop.

The setting of a spring garden party inspires the party decorations. Use light and bright colors to set the overall tone, and then add pretty flowers and tableware to finish the look.
